Our Lord Jesus Christ is God the Son, the Creator of the Universe, Savior, Lord, Friend, and Soon-Coming King over all the Earth. There is no way to adequately describe the person and work of Jesus Christ, but since He is the central figure of history and prophecy, we offer this section as a beginning point to to information about Him. The Apostle John wrote this: Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written. - John 21:25 (NIV)

The Day that Transformed the World Forever

April 1, 2018 - Easter is the one event that transformed the world forever.
There are many religions with different founders, prophets, and teachers going back thousands of years, but only one of them has a founder who professed to be the messiah – the son of God who could save mankind.

Just a happy ending? Examining the evidence for the resurrection - Christian Today

Christianity and Islam on the Resurrection of Jesus - Mark H. Creech - The Christian Post

What does the virgin birth of Jesus Christ teach us today?

Dec. 23, 2015 - The writer admits that there have always been people who doubted the virgin birth of Christ.

The Bible itself and its authors assume the virgin conception of Christ as truth and the skeptics of this truth were just as numerous then as the skeptics of today.

The Virgin birth illustrates three core concepts of Christianity:
1 - It shows that salvation comes from the Lord and is His supernatural work. Even as early as Genesis 3:15 Jesus' birth and our redemption were predicted.

2 - It reveals the true uniqueness of the Son of God. Theologians call this union of God and man the hypostatic union. Jesus is 100% God and 100% man.

3 - It demonstrates God's sovereignty over nature. He allowed other supernatural births: Isaac, Samson, Samuel, and John the Baptist. In Jesus' case, His conception by the Holy Spirit left Him without the legal guilt of original sin and allowed Him to provide our redemption.

Israeli scholar says 1st century Jews awaited Messiah who would die & rise again. Argues “third day resurrection” an idea that pre-dates Jesus.

Apr. 5, 2015 - The Old Testament predicted that Messiah would be a "suffering servant," dying as an atonement for our sins (Psalm 22, Isaiah 53, Daniel 9:26), before He would bcome the "righteous ruler" of Israel and the world.

Joel Rosenberg summarizes the theory proposed by Dr. Israel Knohl, a respected professor and Dead Sea Scrolls expert at Hebrew University, that, after his death, Messiah would be resurrected in three days.

In the year 2009 Dr. Knohl wrote a book, Messiahs and Resurrection in “The Gabriel Revelation", in which he introduced new information, based on the discovery in 200--near the caves of the Dead Sea Scrolls, of a three-foot engraved stone tablet.

The tablet has been named by scholars as “Gabriel’s Revelation” because it suggests that the angel Gabriel was instructed by God to direct that the Messiah be raised from the dead on the third day.

Editor's note: Of course, Jesus predicted His own resurrection in three days (John 2:18-22; Matthew 12:39-40; 16:21; John 10:17-18; Matthew 27:62-64). The disciples evidently did not take it seriously until after His prophecies were fulfilled. See the two excellent articles below.

Jesus tops list as most significant figure in history; Mohammed at 4th

Dec. 10, 2013 - Two computer scientists, Steven Skiena and Charles Ward, used quantitative analysis from Wikipedia to determine the top 10 most significant people in history. Jesus ranked first.
“We would call Jesus ‘the most significant person ever,” said Mr. Skiena, in Pacific Standard. “With over 2 billion followers a full 2,000 years after his death, Jesus is an incredibly successful historical name.”
Next in line was Napoleon Bonaparte,William Shakespeare, Mohammed, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Adolf Hitler, Aristotle, Alexander the Great and Thomas Jefferson.

The Gospel of Jesus' Wife: Ancient Fragment Stirs Debate
/ Christian Scholars not Fazed

Sept. 19, 2012 -

A historian from Harvard Divinity School revealed on Tuesday what she claims to be a fourth century fragment of papyrus containing the phrase (in Coptic) "Jesus said to them, 'My wife ... '"
Professor Karen King has studied a very small fragment of papyrus from the Fourth Century, and says that Jesus supposedly referred to his wife. She said that it does not prove that He had a wife, and if He did, there is no evidence that he married Mary Magdalene.

According to Darrell L. Bock, senior research professor of New Testament Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary, there was no doubt among earlier Christian writers that Jesus was single. The papyrus comes from a fringe gnostic group hundreds of years after Christ. And even if it were true that Jesus has said, "My wife...," it could "well be metaphorical" – a representation of Jesus being married to the church.

Israeli collector 'not guilty' in Jesus burial box case

Mar. 14, 2012 - It is still not known whether or not an ossuary (burial box for bones) supposedly found in 2002 with the Aramaic inscription, "James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus" is authentic. However, after a seven-year trial, the Israeli collector who was accused of forging the artifact has been cleared of the charges.

Italian study claims Turin Shroud is Christ's authentic burial robe

Dec. 21, 2011 - New experiments on the Shroud of Turin show that it is most likely the authentic cloth that wrapped the body of Christ. There have been decades of research and varying opinions about the shroud.
However, researchers from Italy's National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development believe their findings undermine previous theories that the shroud was faked in the medieval period.
Studies conducted in the 1980s reported that the image was "forged" on the cloth between 1260 and 1390. However, scientists now think that the earlier research used material from a patch likely used to to repair the cloth after a fire.

The basic conclusion of the recent study is that the technology that would have been needed to produce the shroud only partially exists today, and certainly would not have been available in the medieval period.

A Second-Coming Christian

July 19, 2011 - Columnist David Neff memorialized his father, an outstanding Christian who lived until he was almost 90, but didn't plan to die. He planned instead to "meet the Lord in the air" (1 Thess. 4:17). David said there were many ways that he and his dad had different perspectives.
Fathers and sons often don't see eye to eye. Dad listened to Rush Limbaugh. I listen to NPR. Dad played Alan Jackson on his stereo. I have Thomas Hampson on my iPod. But on this we agreed: The Christian faith is essentially eschatological.
Because of his father's belief that Jesus might return at any time, he lived a holy and useful life.

Expert: Shroud 'actual burial cloth of Jesus'

May 8, 2010 - Bruno Barberis, director of the International Center of Sindonology in Turin, Italy, believes that the Shroud of Turin is the authentic burial cloth of Jesus Christ.
Barberis discounted the reliability of the carbon-14 dating tests conducted on the Shroud in 1988. He said the area of the Shroud where the sample for the carbon-14 tests had been taken were contaminated by medieval reweaving with cotton.
Barberis is a professor of mathematics at the University of Turin, and an internationally recognized expert on the Shroud of Turin. He has attended more than 800 conferences on the Shroud throughout the world.

The Jesus We'll Never Know

Apr. 12, 2010 - Scot McKnight writes that orthodox Christians have a theological concept of Jesus, drawn from the Gospel accounts of His life and ministry, but Jewish and liberal Christian scholars think they can determine "what Jesus was really like."
Most historical Jesus scholars assume that the Gospels have overcooked their portrait of Jesus, and that the church's Trinitarian theology wildly exceeds anything Jesus thought about himself and anything the evangelists believed.
McKnight shows that most people tend to picture Jesus as a person like themselves (in their own image), and the “historical Jesus scholars” are guilty of doing the same thing. He says that the quest for this non-Biblical Jesus, in spite of the tremendous effort, has resulted in contradictory visions of Christ, and may well be forgotten completely in a generation or two.

3D-face creator says Shroud proves resurrection

April 2, 2010 - The History Channel has aired a two-hour documentary called, "The Real Face of Jesus?" in which a new 3D imaging technology has used the Shroud of Turin to recreate the shape of the face on the cloth. Ray Downing is the creator of the 3D computer technology that was used for the documentary. He said,
"Viewed through the lens of science, the Shroud of Turin contains a code that when deciphered provides actual, physical evidence that the resurrection of Jesus Christ was an actual, historical event."

Jerusalem Bears Witness to Greatest Story

April 4, 2010 - Numerous sites in Jerusalem are powerful reminders that the Bible story of the death and resurrection of Christ are historically accurate. Some of these are:
Two thousand year old olive trees still thriving in the Garden of Gethsemane
An ancient Roman road from the Kidron Valley to the house of Caiphas
Stones from the fortress of Pontus Pilate with the marks of a Roman soldier's game called "King for a Day"
The Via Dolorosa or "The Way of the Cross" - the route Jesus took to His crucifixion
The Garden Tomb
Chris Mitchell, CBN News Mideast Bureau Chief, who wrote the article says, "But perhaps the greatest proof of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ lies beyond the Old City walls of Jerusalem. It's the testimony of more than a billion Christians from every tongue and tribe who say their lives have been forever changed by the resurrected Jesus."

I Am Not Ashamed

March, 2010 - A national campaign has been launched by Answers In Genesis to encourage Christians to post and/or record their statement of faith in Jesus Christ. This is the message America needs the most, and it has grown to all areas of the media, including television, the Internet, and billboards.

Get involved by posting your own thoughts about Jesus, by being part of the world's first video Bible (you and your family may quote a portion of Scripture for all to see), or sponsoring media ads.

Church opens Shroud of Turin to public

Mar. 15 - The Catholic Church in Turin, Italy, will exhibit the Shroud of Turin, a linen relic that millions believe is the actual burial cloth of Jesus Christ, from April 10 through May 23. This will be the longest viewing in the shroud's modern history.
The official website created by the Archdiocese of Turin for this year's exhibition estimates 2 million people will travel to Turin to view the shroud.
There is still active debate about whether or not the shroud is the burial cloth of Jesus.

Away With The Manger

Dec. 21, 2009 - Chuck Norris complains that, unlike previous presidents, Barack Obama ignores the real meaning of Christmas.
Based upon President Obama's first year's utter disregard for America's Judeo-Christian heritage and promotion of a secular-progressive agenda and pro-Islamic platforms, the only white Christmas I would count on at the White House is a continued whitewashing of religious tradition.
Norris gives examples of earlier Presidents who were not afraid to stand up for belief in the babe who was born in Bethlehem.

Behold His Glory – The History Behind the Nativity Story

Dec. 26, 2008 - Dr. Ted Baher reminds readers of that they can have complete faith in the New Testament documents and what they say about the virgin birth, divinity, crucifixion, resurrection, and teachings of Jesus Christ.

He explains that historians use two standard tests for determining the reliability of an ancient document like the New Testament. The first one is the bibliographic test. He summarizes the overwhelming scholarship applied to the thousands of ancient copies and fragments of the New Testament, and quotes Christian scholar and philosopher Norman L. Geisler:

"The New Testament writings are superior to comparable ancient writings. The records for the New Testament are vastly more abundant, clearly more ancient, and considerably more accurate in their text."

The second test is the external test, which analyzes what external sources say about the document. He shows that historians of all ages have been satisfied about the evidence that the Bible is reliable. He says, "When all is said and done, the evidence for the historical reliability of the New Testament documents is in fact better than the evidence for Julius Caesar or any other historical figure in the ancient world."
